Hello Omegoids, OK ok so we all occasionally do rash things. I've seen this badly photographed Omega hanging around eBay France for about 2-3 months. It keeps on getting relisted as it has a waaaay overpriced BIN and a quite eyewatering postage cost. As I scanned past it for the nth time last night , I put in a bid of 45% of the BIN price which I think would appear to be about fair....I wasn't expecting success...the bid has been accepted. Is the a newbies silly mistake or might i have bagged a niceish watch? Normally I wouldn't even consider buying without a nice photo of the movement. And I think the Omega metal script may be missing. But something about this piece (and the fact there's a rather nice original omega strap on it) tells me it's gonna be ok. Thoughts?
Who knows what it's like in the flesh. Maybe you grabbed a nice case/movement that only needs a replacement dial. Or you might have bought a dog. Only time will tell, Let's see some good pics when it lobs.
It's really going to depend heavily on what you paid for it, if it was cheap project watch money and the movement is good you could do ok, if the movement is in bad shape it's worth very little.
I looks as if someone just poured on black paint on the dial. See how it pools at the applied markers
I can add some positivity to this sorry tale....the strap is original, I have one exactly the same and it matches up very well to steel or gold 1950's and 1960's Omega's
It really depends what you paid. More than 200 euros is too much for me. Agree with conelpueblo. Very poor dial refinishing. By chance, it's not too difficult to find a replacement one. What about the movement? If you need to change the balance it's a different story.
It was considerably less than 200. I was already counting on making it a project watch and sourcing a replacement dial over time. I was thinking over the long term: Without going in to mega big bucks I'd like to have an Omega with a different cal from the 30s,40s,50s, 60s, and 70's in my collection and this should fill the gap nicely. It is sold as still running...I'll post the pics from under the hood when it comes.
It's a 132-019, I guess - it looks very much like mine, sans wrong crown and paint job Funnily, mine came with the same strap and buckle! (and box in addition). Wasn't below €200, though
HA! I wish! It was a very good deal, but not that low, no. Don't think I've ever purchased an Omega that cheaply... A not very good photo:
Those are VERY nice...with the original dial. Here is mine (not the same reference, but very similar). The sunburst reflections are very difficult to photograph:
