*shrug* I've bought worse things in my life.

Nice sharp lugs, in fact, the places where they've corroded are so sharp that this baby could double as a Swiss army knife. At least the manual wind is smooth.

I was hoping to be able to find some details on the ref and movement, but of course, I don't have tools (or skills) to get it open. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Taking a photo through the highly scratched crystal is, challenging.

Crown is a random replacement from some time in the past.

Check out those nicely corroded lugs, perfect for self defense.

Also picked up the little one on the left, might finally be an Omega I can convince my wife to wear.

August is a hard month, 3 paychecks = random attempts to purchase watches. Should probably just save my money.

Are you sure the larger watch case was produced by Omega? Have you/can you open it to check the case reference numbers?

I am 100% not sure haha, I wasn't positive on how to pop it open, the back doesn't have any where for a tool to latch onto. It just came in the mail today so I haven't had a chance to see if it's a screw in back that I'd need to attach something to. I remember reading a thread where Archer mentioned using something that could then be dissolved afterword. I wasn't sure if it loaded from the top either.

Well I ask as I don't recall seeing an Omega case/case back that looks quite like your one. Of course there are thousands of references so it could be correct...

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if it was actually just chocolate inside, hopefully Toblerone.

Looks like the mystery will continue on, super glued a bolt to the back, rotated several times but didn’t actually unscrew.

Have a look around the bezel for a little gap to pop the bezel off.

There doesn’t seem to be much of a gap anywhere, unless the crown should pop off and the gap left there should be used. Wish there was still a local watch maker, everyone around here has to ship them out for anything. Aside from that one sketchy booth in the mall... yikes

That would seem to indicate it is an Omega case, 20-microns gold plate.

Thanks. It's looking more and more unlikely that I get it open without doing some kind of serious damage. I think I can send it out for $35 to get it looked and get an estimate for a service and new crystal. Hopefully the watchmaker has more luck that I did. At this point the only thing I can assume is that the crown has to come off first, something I'm not really interested in testing out myself. I was really hoping for a hidden lever somewhere.

I was hoping I could figure out what crown should be on the watch prior to sending it anywhere so I could try and track down the part.

When a case back does not have any notches in it in order to put a tool on so you can turn it, you can pretty safely assume that it is not a screw down case back. Based on what I see, the case back is likely a snap on type, so that would be my first approach...

Outside the "normal" Omega box, but could this be a permanent press in back where the movement comes out after removing the bezel, case notched to allow the removal with the stem/crown in place?

I've only seen one or two watches that have the kind of case back you are referring to, and those were all pretty much flush with the rest of the case back, so it was impossible to get a blade in to lift them out, and they didn't turn at all. This being a raised case back again my feeling is that it's a snap on case back.

With the low quality photos, we can only guess in the end...

In my view send it to the watchmaker, and have them open it and tell the OP the information he needs. Unless his watchmaker is lightening fast, he will have time to track down the crown before the service is completed.

I happen to be working from home today so I took the opportunity to take some additional photos. In the end I'll send this out and see what the watchmaker can do. Unfortunately the case is pretty beat up from previous owners attempting to get this watch open over the years, I'm happy to say none of those marks are from me.

I know there isn't much more info people will be able to add without having the watch in hand but I figured it was a good break from working ;)

When I get more info from the watch maker I'll make sure to follow up on the thread to try and close the loop. Thanks again for all the help.

More dark, tiny photos...in any case looks like the bezel comes off, and again I suspect the case back does as well.

Sorry if those were too hard to see, was just trying to get a view of the areas where the different pieces of the case meet. Leaves a pretty narrow field of focus.

The only way I can see anything is to enlarge and lighten these significantly. The bezel clearly comes off, and again I suspect the case back does too...
