I recently bumped into this wonderful forum, in fact my fascinationation for Speedmasters in particular grew manifold in the past couple of months that I've been browsing anonymously.
Today, I'm in a bit of doubt if I did the right right thing by taking a huge bet on this listing on the bay, looks a bit like the Japan LE of 2004, but I'm not sure.I'm aware of 3570.50 models being converted to look like the 3570.40.The watch does'nt have documentation and movement pics were absent as well. Nonetheless I was just drawn to this one.
That I was on a tight budget did'nt help either.Posting the pics for your opinions.Ended up shelling out a tad less the 900$ for this one.Worth it??That's for you to tell.
    Thanks all. smp1.JPG smp2.JPG smp3.JPG smp5.JPG

Thank you for the prompt replies, most appreciated.

Yes it was on the bay.Any specific pointers?

As I said, I 'm a newbie. My inquisitveness might come accross as foolish, but it would be great if I'm guided on the flaws apparent from the pics themselves(which i did not notice). I was aware that mods on such Speedmasters are aplenty and they aren't cheap to carry out. What gives?

Sure I'll keep away from this, just needed some pointers.

What people are saying in a polite way is that it's a total fake.
If you had asked here before you bought it you would have saved yourself 900 bucks.

It's definitely unpleasant letting someone know they got duped on fleabay. This is a very bad fake. Good luck getting your money back.

    There are several things wrong:

The bezel numbering and lines are just wrong, look at how far the lines extend at 110, 120, 130, etc. The "100" as well as 140, 150 are not even in the right location.

On the case back the text is too thick and not tall enough, looks painted on not engraved. The omega logo and speedmaster text is wrong and the hippocampus is horrible replica.

There are more things, but this should get you started.

Thank you everybody for your inputs.I must remember the age old saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is".

Once again, a big thumbs-up to Omega forum. If it wasn't for the great guys here I probably would have been duped.Should I go ahead and disclose the seller's ebay handle here (Could not find a thread for the purpose of reporting shady ebayers) so that members here don't get scammed in future by his fake Omegas?(Although I'm sure all of you know your Omegas inside out and would never find yourselves in the stupid situation that I was faced with.)

A lesson learnt.Thankfully I had'nt paid up yet. Which brings me to my next problem. The seller, is now acting up now.I sent him a message to cancel the transaction, and he has'nt done that yet. What are my options with e-bay?

Is there a way to report such scamsters to E-bay.I obviously don't want to go ahead with this transaction, but at the same time dont want an unpaid item strike against my account for no fault of my own either.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Tell him it is to his advantage to send the cancellation or eBay will charge him 10% fee. You can out him in the Seller Profiles & Reviews section.

Forgot to mention a simple call to eBay will get your non-payment strike removed if you explain the situation

    Hi (O)MEGA-FREAK

If I was you I would send E-Bay a message straight away and tell them you asked for an opinion on the watch on a specialist Omega watch forum and you now know that it is a fake watch which is against E-Bay rules. They will then remove the sale and you won't end up with an unpaid strike against you and this seller needs to have his auction removed by E-Bay anyway but this way you achieve both your goals easily.

Agreed! The more time spent here will definitely improve your ability to spot issues. Though that one was pretty obvious.

Love this. Nooooooohohoho. None of us on here have ever been scammed or bought a horrible pile of cack off ebay.

Omegafreak, if it hasn't happens to us yet, it's going to. It's like riding a road bike with clipless pedals. Everyone forgets to unclip at least once.
