I broke one of my rules by bidding for this when nobody else had so either I overpaid for an OK watch or there’s something wrong with it. I was tempted because it looked so clean and tidy, while there was enough aging showing on the dial to persuade me that it wasn’t a redial. I guess it’s just an ok watch. I paid £260 UKP for it. Can you see anything that should cause me to return it fora refund? If I’ve overpaid then I’ll take the hit as tax, but if it’s dodgy I will ask for a refund. Thanks for your comments.
It's perfectly genuine, though the crown is an incorrect style replacement and not Omega. The dial has some marks but is original. I'd say you paid the top end of ok for this.
It's real, not in great condition. Not a particularly desirable piece, but for sure a nice Watch to be worn daily without having to worry.
Yes, I knew the crown was wrong. Not too expensive to change it when I get it serviced. I think the value of gold dress watches may be a bit soft at the moment so I figured holding on to this for a while will not be a bad idea.
Interesting - what about the condition do you think is not great? I thought it was pretty clean given its age.
Just to clarify... you know this is plated rather than solid gold, right ? If it wad sold as being made from gold that's incorrect.
I think you’ve picked up a very nice piece at a more than reasonable price judging from current prices of 5** series automatic watches with a nice looking movements, and case and hands in good condition, like your new acquisition. Enjoy it.
The movement seems to be in good condition. The rotor does not have scratches which is a good sign. The screws do have light marks so it might have been serviced in the past. If the age of the dial doesn't bother just wear it.
Plated seems to be the least desirable to the market right now leading to some decent prices on cool watches. Most of us will never wear through the plating away but it being plated will make resale, if ever desired, more difficult.
Fair enough, I’ll keep that in mind. I’m not really expecting to sell it on quickly but for the amount I paid I can leave it in a box for a while and see how prices change.
In fact one reason I decided to break my rule about not bidding for items that had little interest was that I couldn’t see why a cal562 in such good condition wasn’t worth that money.
