Did you pay by paypal, because that's a zero feedback seller there

No movement shot and strangely bent crown is a bit concerning too

Yes, PayPal backed with credit card. I've had good luck with eBay refunds in the past.

Cool mate smart move, as long as you're being safe I guess when you get the watch pop the back and get a watchmaker to check it out

Backs for these occasionally come up on eBay, so you'll have to drink more coffee. coffee_with_DU.gif

Presuming the personalized back is also 14K, selling it might contribute to the cost of a proper back...

Risky, but you can't argue with the price!

Crown is a concern...likely bent case tube, maybe distorted hole in the solid gold case...get it checked ASAP when it comes in.

    Cheers, Al

There are plenty of constellation backs available, but you might struggle to get the correct 167.005 one in 14k,
That said, swap the crown for the correct one and you cant argue for that price.
If the back is a genuine Omega one, with the case ref and markings, it may be worth filling the engraving and you are still left with a bargain watch.
I wouldn't think the lack of the observatory on the back, would hurt the resale value too much.

Well I think it would knock 30-40% off for resale.

I think cleaned up with the correct case back and crown, its a maybe an £1100 watch, although I know you could easily add £1000 in a private sale through a dealer, and having the correct back would definitely widen the appeal.
I would have thought £900 is a reasonable expectation with the back its got now, and I would have thought a replacement back if he's lucky enough to find one would be at least £200, so its debatable as to whether or not it would be worth adding one.

That said, I'm no expert and just thinking aloud - If it was my watch and I was intending to keep it, not having the correct back, would niggle.

Today in a different post I learned that you can have a "SWISS" without a "MADE" but this is the first time I have seen a trailing "T" without a leading "T" also. Considering no one has mentioned that as dodgy then that's two "SWISS MADE" things I've learned today!

Not dodgy, one or two T's depends on the the amount of Tritium.

    Disagree on that.
No T one T or two T's depend on models and years of production .

Always heard it the other way, but have no authoritative source, can you provide some documentation so that we can archive it for future reference Hoi? Thanks.

    Hi Steve
I don't have any official documentation from Omega to show you but some pictures. Do you want them?

Well, the watch in question arrived a few hours ago. It appears to be running well, I am relieved to say. I am very much a novice but I am very happy with the appearance. It does in fact sport the correct 551 calibre, and it would appear the engraved back is original. I didn't know Omega made "blank" backs available for engraving but this looks to be one.

I'll be sending it off to Nesbit's for a full service as soon as I can bear to have it off my wrist.
