    Gentlemen,

Today there where two auctions in Germany, small ones with only a few watches in total, but the prices on some where for me surprising...

A really nice and genuine unpolished Seamaster 105.004 sold for 5.200€ and on an other auction a non working quite beaten up gold plated Breitling 806 sold for 4.400€ (nice dial though). I was bidding on these but didn’t have the balls to go “all the way”. :)

And a 1980 Speedmaster Apollo XI Anniversary yellow gold sold for 41.000€!

Any ideas on reason for the, in my opinion, high prices? Excitement for finding true and genuinely honest items or a heated up market?

I was one of the under-bidders on Lot 761, the Seamaster, and I must say was very surprised by the final result. Adding the buying and internet bidding commission to the hammer price will take it over €6.7K...which I find too much. I couldn't get any extra pictures so was assuming a 1035 and not the earlier 7912 or 7077 bracelet. I think the estimate of €350 perhaps brought a few extra bidders to the party.

I also missed out on a nice 2471 Cosmic in another auction coming out of DE today, it had the wrong hands but still went for €3.6K

What was also interesting to see was that there where no floor bids on the Seamaster, only internet bids.

I had ordered extra photos which unveiled the following:

it was a 1035 bracelet from 2/67 with number 6 endlinks - but: the lugs of this SM are only 18 mm, so most probably the 19 mm endlinks were filed down to fit the SM case - hence the endlinks 6 are pretty much worthless...

Maybe some internet bidders were carried away by the presence of a Speedy bracelet and endlinks #6 and did not consider the different lug size

Yes that sounds likely. How was the bezel? In the auction picture it looked to have possible bubbling or some kind of damage/marks between the 5 and 6.
