Apparently, some people, assuming that watches are made in increasing serial numbers, do feel that the lower the number, thus the earlier in the production run, are "purer", or more "original" vs. watches manufactured later.

I don't quite get it either... 👎

For the second edition version I compared a bunch of online examples of the engraved AXXX number vs serial numbers, they don't go up together in sequence. So is it the engraved number or serial number that came first? Who knows!!

I confused as to why you would not wear the watch... You think the condition it is in would be ruined by earing it?

It's already an obviously worn piece, and a marked caseback.

There was nothing different than a box of 1000 casebands + casebacks engraved with LE numbers and another box with 1000 movements within the known range. Guys picked up a case, fitted a movement inside, closed the case back, done. Even Omega has no clue of which serial is related to which LE number and honestly who cares...

Agreed! 👍 It’s just fun to do some detective work.

Further, that 2nd series has different engraved font types for the serial numbers. So there must of been multiple “boxes” of movements 😉. Also, this reference for some reason has a tough time getting an abstract, from what I can determine the international shipments. The ones that were shipped with the original medallion box (germany etc) get extracts easily.

I already stated that is the photo from Moonwatch Only book, not mine. Mine is pristine and doesn't look to have been worn at all, bracelet too. It has also never been polished before you ask.

I'm curious whether the people saying "no point keeping it as a drawer queen if it doesn't have box and papers" would also argue that box and papers are meaningless when buying a worn, badly scuffed and scratched up 2915 or blue bezel 2998, 105.012 etc etc.

Honestly box and papers are not really a huge thing in the Omega world unless it’s a pristine piece.

If you haven't received any great offers by PM, then I guess you have your answer. Wear it, it's not an investment.

I believe it’s time to show that watch. Or we discuss something that doesn’t even exist 😗

I seriously do not understand the whole idea behind a lower # being somehow more special than any other watch in the LE series.

'MkI'. Worth gazillions more than 'MkII'....which is worth gazillions more than 'MkIII'...and so on.

All jokes aside...just wear the friggin' thing already 👍 (edit: but try not to scratch it ::stirthepot::)

Like I said... it's in a different country right now. I'm just stuck with my G-Shock for the time being lol...

Do I sense a tinge of annoyance on your side!? 👎

Like it or not, at least you received SOME feedback. 😉

In the end, only you can decide what makes you feel good about this watch: enjoying a beautiful watch, or look at it as an investment and thus not wear it, save it for someone else, etc etc

You can even try to now make yourself more crazy and can start hunting period-correct box and papers, etc. ::stirthepot::

Until late 2020 when I finally could snag a pristine full set in an unworn condition. Red dot and some coating still on the watch.

Yes, wear it. If we all wore watches rather than wrapping them up in cotton wool there wouldn't be any pristine examples out there to worry about. They wouldn't get shut away in a safe, they would be more likely to get bought/sold on because there wouldn't be such a desire to keep them locked away. And poor people like me would have more of a chance of owning one.😉

Well, it's not currently in my possession so nothing I can do it about it anyway.

What I will do is.... as long as my fiances dictate that I might need to sell it one day to, you know, continue eating, then I'll leave it as is;

However, when I reach the point where selling it would be a minuscule fraction of my net worth, then it simply would no longer matter and I can wear it with full abandon.

I think that makes most sense.

And yeah... who doesn't need more watches? Does it ever end?? I don't think so ... 😉
