    Morning all,

I've just bought an early 70's constellation f300 from eBay...love those little tuning forks...and am now trying to work out what to do with it.

My other f300 is off for a service with Paul at Electric Watches in Brighton, and this will head the same way, just wondering how far to take things.

He can relume the hands and uses a face restorer in the US.

    Any thoughts?

tempting! I do like the matt black with the second markers of this though...just wondering how good a restorer could make it look...

If you do not replace, do not reface!

So a big not to repainting? If I had bottomless funds, I'd be tempted by a nos face...hmm....

yes big no to repainting unless the dial is too far gone which your dial is clearly not.

In that case, just a service, a clean and a reseal...I'll keep my eyes peeled for a NOS dial.

Agreed on the refinishing - unless the dial is totally unreadable, don't have it redone. Replacement is a MUCH better idea.

The black one on ebay went for $41, I bought the white one the seller had listed - for another $10 more.

I really can't see what's wrong with the OP's dial in the first post.

I was bidding on the blue metallic one...lot snipped by someone else...10 bids in 10 seconds...hardly sporting.

It has water damage...but I can live with it...for now ;)

Are you telling me you use ebay without sniping? That'd put you in the minority these days I imagine.

I still can't see any serious degradation of your dial - maybe its the angle. You should be able to remove the green schmutz.

I may be the only one...old school huh?

It's lifting in a few spots...and there's some verdegre on the dial and on the centre of the hands.

A week into ownership and I'm kinda enjoying the weathered look...character right?

Yep. The green will go away when it gets serviced anyway - so its just the lifting, and its not obvious. The dial you were bidding on had actual surface loss.

Yeah...was a little unsure about changing the dial too...I much prefer the style of the one that's on there.

STS have said they think they can source one...but at slightly more than what I paid for the watch, I can't see that ever happening.
