To provoke a little…

If I say that a NTTD is a fun watch now and maybe for some years a head, but a Submariner is a watch that will stand the test of time and that it will be even better in 20 years.

I got this from a guy at work. In a way he is right I guess. And I also guess that if you apply this a Speedmaster would be the future proof Omega option…

Maybe for some people you are correct.

For me, I have many watches, but only 3 special watches I wear regularly. My creamsicle PO, the blue Seamaster Professional Diver ceramic, and the Rolex Sea Dweller 16600. The Omegas make me happy, and I love their beauty and color. The Rolex is worn mainly because it is a Rolex. It is not particularly beautiful like the Omegas. Of the three, it is likely the only one I would consider selling. It is a great watch but the black dial is kinda boring after a day on the wrist.

But, this is me.

I always find it funny when people think they can predict what will happen decades in the future.

20 years from now I probably wont even live in the same city, I have no idea what watch I'll care about by then.

Well put. I fully agree. I have a 16600 on the wrist right now. As you say - it is great and I appreciate the history etc. But after a while it gets a bit… boring. The NTTD on the other hand I can just sit and stare at. In 20 years I guess it will be as hot as a Renault that shifts design every second year or so. A matter of heart vs brain I guess.

The creamsicle looks good on your brown leather!! Never would have pictured that combo looking so good.
