I have been looking for a watch for my husband, and a vendor has this available for sale. I had concern, as he said it was a 'transitional' 1969 but the bezel looks like its a '70. What should I pay for something like this? He is asking $4,900.

Photos are attached. Any advice? What would be a good place to look for a decent vintage (he does not care about the year). Thanks!

Good place to look for vintage: sales section on this forum.

The price, I think, is very high. No bracelet, no box or papers by the looks of it. These can be had for around $3000-$3500, I believe. So I would not pay the asked price for that piece. The blue bezel does nothing for me personally. Don't know if they are original to that ref.

Looks like a 145.0022 from 1970 right enough, looks correct enough.
With no bracelet the price seems high, should be nearer $3k usd.

The bezel is correct vintage for this particular 69 case back, but the dial is wrong, about 20 years or more later than the watch. The most value of a vintage watch is in the dial, so this is definitely not a good buy.

Your effort in buying a Speedmaster for your husband is really admirable! Best of luck!

PS: Here are some good examples (I'd recommend the first one):

Thanks for all the great advice! I think he definitely still wants a vintage watch, but I guess what I meant to say was he didn't mind what year vintage - so maybe late 1960s to early 1970s.
