Brushed the lugs and sides. I'm happy with the result. It's not precision factory machining. But it is closer to original. Anybody cringing right now? 20190306_035240.jpg 20190306_035135.jpg 20190306_035102.jpg 20190306_034954.jpg 20190306_034836.jpg 20190306_032854.jpg 20190306_034734.jpg

Well done. And excellent choice on the strap.

I had only learned of Ultraman after I added the strap. I am a noob to Omega.

I am talking to LA Watchworks now about movement overhaul and rebrush on bezel. My instinct is to quit fiddling with the watch at this point.

Not bad since you succeed to keep edges but brushing lines doesn't have the same direction.
That the point to improve from my point of view.

If the bezel have a sunburst, this kind of issue will be more visible if you try to do it yourself.

The case is solid gold ?

Yes agreed the brushing across the top of the bezel would need to be radial and the case would need to be gutted, crystal removed, before I start. Which is why I will use a watch technician for this item.

Case is gold cap, about 0.2mm thick across the lower half of the case. The bezel is solid 14k.

The brushing is generally directional, not factory precision, but it suits the watch at its current life stage. It's not trying to be a precision jewelry piece under a magnifier.

More photos of the process. I made a brushing tool and a polishing tool. Used a popsicle stick and CA glue a pad of 800grit and a pad of stropping leather to the ends of the sticks. The flat sticks give good finger control. The size and shape of the tip was optimum for brushing the tiny lugs.

Few more photos. All the shiny bits were polished using fine stropping wax. Just enough to remove smallest scratches and tarnish/dirt.

She's got some deeper scratches and dings you can see under macro, but don't really show at 1:1 view.

Hell yeah that would be best. But have no idea about removing the bezel. Can it be done.

Yes it can be removed / replaced as it is a separate case part. Here you can see one removed; lots of dirt and some corrosion below the bezel

Nice. Cool watches. Has anyone here radially brushed the bezel themselves? If so how did you do it?

You need some sort of lapping machine to do this properly...

Video taken at the Swatch NJ service center when I was there for some training a number of years ago...
