    This Saturday I got my beloved Tissot chronograph back from service and the same day a few people on Facebook questioned its originality. The points made regarded the overall condition of the dial (which is spotless), the different fonts on second track and subdial (which I have refuted; this is on par for the course), the logo (which is a newer type) and the hands (which are different from others, for instance @marturx lovely specimen).

    This is the dial in question:

    Now, I would be very surprised if it was a redial, as everything is spot on when compared to similar specimens, but the possibility of a later service replacement could well be true. There isn't much data about vintage Tissot, and due to part of the movement having been replaced, I have no serial number and I can therefore not date it properly ::facepalm2::

    The oldest watches I've seen with this Tissot logo are from 1969 and my own 1972 Seastar has it as well.

    The stick hands are also a part of the conondrum, as they are markedly different from others I've seen, which are of the radium-filled wing type, or dauphine hands as Marturx': https://omegaforums.net/threads/tissot-chronograph-50ies-ref-174-cal-27ch-41h.34619/

    Note that apart from the logo, mine is an exact copy of that one... Marturx' is a ref. 174, which I don't believe this one is, as there aren't any such marking and the case is a bit different.

    Anyone out there sitting on a huge fount of knowledge? Please give a shout, as I'd love to solve this mystery.

    Yep, Tissot has changed logo as often as others change socks, it would seem. I stumbled across the 1966 reference you show at the start of your post, and that is pretty similar. The dial text and fonts are not a match, however.

    Yes, finding info about Tissot is almost impossible. My focus is on late sixties early seventies chronos and divers, and they seem to have used every caliber available with an endless stream of slightly different dials.

    Add to that the fact that the only book written on Tissot is actually a history of the company, but not of the watches themselves, and the thing turns into an everything goes affair.

    I am sorry I cannot be of any help; whenever I see those Tissot chronos, I force myself to look the other way. I just want a Swedish military and a T12 and I will be done with Tissot chronos.

    And now, I suppose you (and anyone who did not know it before) will also be on the look out for one.

    There are none ::facepalm2::

    The serial no. on the movement is absent as well, there is only the number "2792" there and the inside og the caseback is blank... The outside is stamped with 1288373, which would mean 1942...

    I believe Tissot restarted their serial #s, more than once if remembered correctly...could be off here but I do remember reading this somewhere.

    The only serial number list I've seen is this, which I've blagged from WUS:

    Yes, you are right, I mixed up the references with the almost identical lemania one

    In any case, I think I have seen references to it elsewhere as the Swedish army or airforce Tissot.

    No information about the movement, but there really isn't any reference inside the case back. The dial is still a mystery as

    ...and the logo is a late sixties type as well. I still don't think it's an "outside job", as everything is too perfect.
