IMG_2366.jpeg IMG_2364.jpeg IMG_2365.jpeg Hi all,

I picked up this Cal 27 for peanuts as it was a non runner. Managed to bring the old girl back to life. I love the burned orange tropic dial. Always been a fan of cal 27’s. It was the first movement I worked on to learn and I am a big fan of the movie rear window and boy, fore’s he have a cracker tissot in that. Would love to find one but I’m patient.
Thoughts on the dial and strap combo?

also did a side by sonde with a more modern visodate for comparison.

Very nice, congratulations!

I'm a colourful kind of guy :)
I'd go for a light blue strap, or light green... even a cream one

Yeah I know. Tropic dials aren’t for everyone and to be honest I only want 1. But yeah very caramelised sugar look to it, I agree

Always been a fan of cal 27’s.

Me too, I'd love to see one day a collection dedicated to it, with all its technical variations.

There is a guy on YouTube that did a tissot vid through the 40’s and 50’s. Timeless history channel.

I meant a collection just focused on the calibre 27 and the small differences between its variations (like engravings, shock proof devices, center seconds, date and so on). This movement changed quite a bit from the 1930s to the 1960s, it would be interesting to list precisely all these changes as reference for other collectors. And not in a video please, this format is so unadapted to this hobby in my view, I need quality pictures to have time to finely notice and appreciate all details.

Still not what I meant, this is a quick and broad overview of this caliber. Some early variations are not referenced there. I know for example A-R engravings on the balance cock changed somewhere in the very late 1930s (only later ones are shown on Ranfft), some other examples also had different finish than the nickel coating, markings varied between "Tissot" and Tissot swiss" and so on... It would be nice to know when these changes happened. These might sound like very little details, but this is how I look at collecting, knowing the small stuff.
