Tissot Antimagnetique - a redial?

Hello OF!

I have zero experience with Tissot from this era so I turn to OF for help. Something with the font doesn't look quite right to me, especially the shape of S letters in "Tissot". Minute track looks ok. Hands appear to be correct. Case in decent condition. Size is 30mm. Watch is at an auction so no info on final price. What do you think?

What do you think?
Looks like a redial to me. Always give extra scrutiny on vintage watches with clean white dials and black print

I’m not convinced either way. Also, I’ve seen many NOS service dials for Tissot from the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Could be one of those.

Nice case! I wouldn’t call that a pristine white dial so I’m not quick to call that a redial, though I wouldn’t bet on it either way.

Thanks everyone for your input! This is a great community 😀

So this Tissot still remains a bit of a mystery. The ancient strap and very corroded spring bars lead me to think that if anything was done to the dial it was done years ago. It will be interesting to see what the closing price will be. I think the watch looks quite nice but because of the small size and lack of brand cachet I presume the price will stay at a low level.

Geez. I’ll weigh in with detailed thoughts, but I’m by no means an expert: The case is in excellent shape. The markers and hands look correct (gold on stainless is very nice). The crown looks correct. The dial shows even patination. But the dial is tricky. If this was a recent redial it would be much cleaner. If this was a historic redial, it’s very well done. I think it’s all original. Tissot is a great brand and you’ll find many fans here (myself included).

Update!

I bought the watch as the price was very reasonable. I must say it looks very sharp so I am happy with the purchase 😀 Here are a few pics:

Printing is super crisp.

Cal. 27-21T looks clean and runs strong. Serial number dates to 1952.

Next I have to find a nice strap and get this thing serviced. Thanks OF for help! 😀

Lovely! Glad it worked out. And as I suspected: the dial is solid.
