Nice tips. I think the basics are covered there. The other IMPORTANT thing for any new watch lover to do is familiarise themselves with some of the crap that lurks in the undergrowth. A good place to start is here, learn all about fakes. (Note: This thread is NOT FOR QUESTIONS!). Another valuable resource for fake identification is where we answer questions about suspected fakes. After 3 semesters studying these resources, you will be qualified to venture into the murky world of vintage watch procurement. May your lucky spirit be with you.
