I posted yesterday on the 'Vintage Omega Watches Help, Discussion and Advice' page regarding advice on selling a Seamaster Cosmic 2000 and it appears that the thread has been removed. A little disappointing as there was good advice on where to sell, the fact that there may be scammers around, selling the bracelet separately, etc and I' sure that other useful advice may have been suggested.

My guess is that the thread was seen as an advert however it was a genuine attempt to gain advice from people with experience!

you are probably correct, these type of threads are often seen as slippery slopes - no pun intended :) come back and tell us more about your Cosmic ..

On the positive side you came back and found that you were still here
Posts that state you are selling a watch and here are all the details and photos are generally considered covert sales posts. This is not an infrequent occurrence. Often the post and the seller are deleted. Apparently you were given the benefit of doubt.

If it helps, I guess you don’t have to take it personal - as in: “they apparently think that I tried to strategically circumvent the rules”. It may well be that it’s just not allowed, regardless of your honest intentions. In any case, good luck with the sale!

Didn’t you read the New rule.

If you don’t have a avatar your thread disappears at midnight.

Hard to get advice about a watch that know one can see what it looks like, condition, etc!

Surely if I was selling the more obvious page would be 'Watches For Sale':)

Any way glad to see you are all still here, have a great Christmas!

Their point is, that since it requires a minimum of 200 posts on this forum to create thread in Private Watch Sales, a lot of people create covert sales posts to circumvent the rules :)

Ah, OK, Sorry! didn't delve in to the forum as it wasn't to be a long term interest.

As mentioned in your previous thread, the best place to sell such a watch, balancing market value against convenience is on eBay with a range of pictures from all angles.

Posting perfect sales pictures not needed for info on the watch while stating your selling it and providing the details you mentioned really look like a covert sales post. Why 20 perfect sales shots obviously taken by someone that knows how to sell watches?
