Is it worth 450 pounds? I think it`s a bumper inside, I`m still pending on the answer from owner. IOAN COSTAVHE.jpg

I have not been following the sales of these lately. But I think the price is on the high side. The dial is nice and the case looks like it has not been polished extensively. If everything looked good and correct I would be a buyer at about 500$ = 300GBP. Of course I have been accused of being cheap.... by my kids....

The case does look crisp and the dial is nice, but without seeing the movement and inside of the case back you might not get too many comments on value.

Ok, guys, mistery solved: it`s a cal.501, serial 14 658 xxx , 1954 anno domini. However, not the best pics...
    So, thoughts...should I invest let`s say, 400 pounds?

    It's all relative.

If you've just come back from the track with a wad big enough to choke a horse, then just go for it.

On the other hand, if you have a family and need to meet other commitments (food, shelter, single malt) then you may have to consider the wisdom of spending the money.

However, if you can't decide either way, follow the oldest watch collector's axiom:

"When I have a little money, I buy watches; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes."

(attributed to Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus, the first WIS collector extarordinaire)

Liked the one with the single malt...Erasmus from Rotterdam would have liked it too.

£400 = $652, which doesn't sound terrible to me after adjusting my mental guide to modern day prices. I like the watch and would probably go for that.

I'd say $525 would be more in line.

You would easily pay £400-450 at a fair in the UK for a watch in that condition. Probably more in London.
