Hello all, First post on this forum. I had 3570.50 for two years until I sold it late last year to fund a Rolex. Now that I have that Rolex, I am longing for another Speedmaster. I have fallen for all things vintage so I am considering a vintage Speedmaster. Everyone seems to have a modern Speedmaster these days! I have an opportunity to pick up this watch for a good price. It is a one-owner watch that was purchased in 1972 and is worn daily. I believe the correct reference is 145.022. I know the plots are shot but that's what I love about it. These are the only pictures from the seller: https://imgur.com/a/lvj8g Any opinions appreciated
Hard to say too much from your photos. Watch does look as if it may be from 1970/71. Bracelet looks to be a 1039 type and if so will be valuable.
Hour and minute hands are likely replacements (lume isn’t consistent with chrono hand). Bezel is a D-, especially for a DNN. A 1039 bracelet would have some value ($1-1.5k) but I can’t 100% be certain that’s what it is from those photos, so request photos of the underside of the clasp and endlinks to confirm. Hard to tell about the dial and lume plots from the photos - might be attractive but tough to say. Same for case condition - can’t be certain from the photos. 70’s Speedies aren’t particularly hard to find in the Sales section here on OF in better condition, so this one would need to be a bit of a bargain for me to say jump on it. I'd take a good look at this one: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-1971.71729/#post-915303
I have my doubts about the hands (luminova ?) , also the besel in not i a good shape. But if the price is right, you can fix it.
It's a 145.022-71 in banged-up condition but on a 1039 bracelet. Could make a nice beater for US $3k or below. Wouldn't spend more on it unless I had a line on a bezel and h/m hands; I think the case might be a bit too ripped up though
