I've been given the green light to purchase a Speedmaster 321 and so now I've started looking .................

I would like to get a totally genuine 65 to 67 year model but they seem to be hard to find in nice condition or very expensive.

I did see this one on ebay and I quite like the Pulsations bezel but any advice welcome on its authenticity

I would steer clear. Hold out for one with an original bezel or at least talk this one way down to make up for it.

I am sure the experts will be along at any moment, but this one looks like a very sub-par example. Stay patient :)

I agree its not a great example and I'm not that clued up on the early Speedmasters yet. A few things dont tally up, the movement number is 2401xxxx which is very low for a 1967

I'd wait for Mike and Steve to give a more expert view. But to me, it looks like the dial is in pretty good condition. The only real issues are the mark at the 50 second stage on the sub dial and the fact that the bezel and at least the chrono second hand are later replacements. Maybe all the hands are non original but it's hard to say without looking on a bigger screen.

Two problems here, price and dial. OK, some hands have been replaced too, but hands can be fixed more readily.

The dial appears to be a later 145.022 dial, actually for a 861(short hour markers) .
The watch has been configured to make it look in fresher shape, the price is way too high for a watch with these issues

Thanks for the advice. I wasnt sure about the dial as it has the applied omega symbol. For the short hour markers, do you mean they should go all the way to the outside of the dial?

Extend through the seconds markers. Here is one that member Stephan just worked on.

Replacement bezel and more importantly dial. Price too high also. Lots of nicer and more original 321 speedmasters to be found out there.

pascs - also note the chronograph (large sweep second hand): beginning with later CK2998-5's, through the conclusion of the 145.012 production, a 321 should have a pointy counterbalance ("tail") as in the example cicindela posted. In the example you posted, yours has a blunt counterbalance ("tail"). This blunt counterbalance is found beginning with the 145.022 cal 861 Speedy, through present day.
