Very interesting as is but..a very complex and expensive project. Not for the faint of heart but it can certainly be extremely rewarding
Not really an investment but rather a project. Probably not a huge monetary payoff but could be rewarding to bring back from the abyss
I was wondering about the combination of the dial, hands and bezel being correct? Ref 147.55 movement no 1937...........
As you can see she has been to STS for service , Aldo for the bezel and the hands were relumed by James Heyman to match the (untouched) dial. Restoration and service cost less than £700 I thought by showing it in its “original “ rough state it’s question of authenticity would be less cloudy. She came from an owner who claimed he bought it mid1960s from High Street jeweller and paid it off at £1 weekly. It als came wit a spare but near blank bezel.
Maybe jeweller took it in p/x in a damaged state and replaced parts in mid 1960s. Damage and wear are at least consistent throughout! Genuine old guy said he wore it everyday since he bought it.
A parts watch, where the parts of value aren’t in great nick. Hard to tell the condition of the dial. But heck the bracelets alone are going for big money these days.
Last Aldo restored Bezel sold for $1000+ If you can find any bezel nude or otherwise please post a link.Rare a rocking horse shot
I guess I missed your post this morning. The bezels do come up for sale, occasionally on chronotrader. Your best bet would be to source some stick hands and have a watch that at least looks like a real reference, 165014
Maybe with the early 1960s Omega we’re not quite so straightforward as we all think I refer to “Journey through Time” Photo 2721 CK147.55 Quote " Diamond shaped or baton hands with Tritium inserts" From 1960.....??? Photo 2721.....who really knows what went on?
Really doesn’t bother me at all! Stuff happens to things over a 50 year period, think our bodies, cars, houses, women etc!
