Thoughts on this Constellation? Dial looks nice, case looks tarnished, but I think it's gold capped so could clean up nicely..?

Medallion on the back looks good, signed crystal and crown.

Possibly dodgy looking buckle...

You really do need to post multiple decent pics (not screenshots) for folks to assess the watches you are looking at.

As it happens the images in the eBay listing are also pretty crap -and so it is really difficult to assess the condition of the case properly.

The dial looks pretty good and the medallion is very strong.

The crown is a replacement and the cyclops crystal looks awful but appears to be an Omega original.

I’ve never seen this kind of spot-tarnishing on a constellation -almost like it’s been splashed with salty water.
It may polish off but I’d have to question why the seller didn’t give the case a rub before listing.

I would ask for photos of the movement and of the interior of the caseback.

Apologies, I had actually posted this as a reply to the ongoing eBay thread in case anyone thought it was worth looking at, I think it was moved to a new thread by one of the admins.

I'm not personally considering it, but I thought there were some strong signs of a potential good piece there.

Ah! I presume you mean the ‘recommended’ thread ? - That explains a lot then.

It’s good that you want to add to the forum - but I would suggest that the watch you posted is difficult to assess because the pics are so poor and from what we can see would likely rate as ‘average’ rather than recommended.

Agree with all of the above, it looks weird on those lugs, the only thing I can think of is some sort of surface contamination from polishing perhaps? Like a buffing wheel that already had some metal in it and deposited that metal in the soft gold when it was being polished, leaving it to rust? I've seen that happen in paint on many an occasion but I've never seen it happen in gold-capped cases.

I'm guessing @Archer might have seen something like this given how many have come across his bench over the years

Sorry, but I haven't seen anything like this before - very strange.
