I really like this. Aren't these fairly rare? He claims the dial is original. If this all checks out I might want to buy this. The only thing holding me back would be that minute hand...

The 2nd generation ones had Globemaster on them, and came in a variety of cases. Desmond wrote a good article on them. Here's mine:

The hands are mismatch - the hour hand is gold and has lume while the minute hand is stainless and has no lume. It's also a caliber 501, which had some issues with the winding rotor along with the 500. Nice dial, but NOT at that price! If it were all correct, I might see paying $850 to $925. Unless it's a solid gold Globemaster I can't see going over $1000 personally. Wait for more opinions though.

That's what I thought at first, but after looking at the close up it seems like the hour hand might just be discolored? It's very hard to tell though. The minute hand also looks like it has lume, but the lume has turned black. I do agree that the price is strong though.

If it had been all original, I would be all over it at around 925. The hands would just drive me crazy though!

Yes, if you look at the additional photos you can clearly see that the minute hand is simply discolored, but does match the hour hand.

If I remember correctly, the Globemaster with a subdial should have a cal. 491 movement, not a cal. 500 or 501 (both center seconds). This is mentioned in Desmond's article.

This could just be an oversight on the part of the seller. However, the pictures provided hide all of the caliber engravings.

    Another "caveat emptor" piece,

Oo, wrong movement! Now Its definitely not happening with me. The hands were not making me happy but now that I know its the wrong movement, I will stay away

Getting correct hands is easy. It's probably just an e-mail to the seller to get the right answer. I only said that the information was hidden by the rotor in that picture, it may very well be a cal. 491 which is the same as the 501 with a subseconds.

Price is too high anyway IMO,

Thanks! Yes the price is very high and I'm probably going to leave it alone. There is a watch I've been trying to get for quite a while and it might all come through this week so I need to save the funds. Thanks,
