Thoughts on this connie

I have been on the hunt for a gold capped constellation pie pan with dog legs (as almost everyone it seems) and have been presented with this one. I would like to hear your thoughts on it.

It is a ref 168.005 which was serviced in May and had crown, crystal and main spring changed. Receipt of service is included. No pictures of the movement.

My thoughs:
- Dial has some patina but overall looks in good condition and not re-painted
- Crown seems original to reference.
- Back plate seems somewhat polished with the smaller stars starting to fade
- Tritium is partly missing from the hands

Seller is asking 940 euros which IMO is fair for a watch in this condition which is newly serviced. What do you think?

Plus points.
It a Pie pan Connie.

Negative points.
The case is quite heavily polished.
The dial is quite heavily patinated (and looks grubby IMHO)
Lume missing from hands and indices.
The crown is defining correct nor the correct replacement crown.
Medallion is very worn.

Do you have internal pics?

As I mentioned in another thread, sellers are asking higher and higher prices for pie pan Connies.
I personally don’t think this one is worth the asking price.

hope that helps.

For me neither, I'd describe it as quite a rough example lacking in charm.

Lugs are too "softened" for my taste and I don't believe crown is the correct one (though I'm not expert on that).
And as said above, lumes missing too.
I'd wait for a crispier one I'd say.

There are better ones out there. For comparison purposes, here’s my 1962 14900 gold cap. Except for the strap, this one is completely original and about as mint as they come.

Indeed. I bought it on the street in Brooklyn from a guy wearing a trench coat and sunglasses.

Thanks all for the replies, I appreciate it. I think I will pass, however, I do not think the price is way off - a service including glass etc is easily 300 so around 600 euro for the watch itself is okay in my book.

Great looking watch. How much was it if I may ask?

I paid $1,800 USD. It was part of an estate sale. I believe that it’s worth more than I paid, but I don’t intend to sell it.

Just because a service cost 300 euro it doesn't add 300 euro to the value of the watch, maybe the half. IMO the watch is worth 600-700 euro.
