Thoughts on this 2852 Constellation?

Hello everyone!

Just came accross this Coonie and would like to know what are your thoughts regarding originality and conservation state in general. Although in some pics the gold seems yellow, seller said all gold parts are rose.

Case seems to be in good shape - it's not weird that it is steel and the indexes/hands are gold, right? Also, seller says it is the original box.

Any ideas of a fair value for the piece? Thanks a lot!

That is likely A original box, but surely not THE original box - it’s a generic Omega service box, nothing specific to a Constellation.

I like the watch and the dial aging doesn't bother me, and not uncommon for a steel watch to have gold markers but wouldn't the hands be gold colored as well? Maybe those more familiar with that model will know.

The dial condition alone would be a pass for me.

I agree - I would pass on it due to the dial as well.

It is interesting how sharp the case is and relatively clean the movement is with a dial like that.

If you like the patina, ask the seller for a picture in outdoor light without any editing or filter. The hands look like they could be gold, but it might just be the lighting. Gold markers and stainless hands would not be correct.

Thanks, everyone! I actually don't mind the patina - I even like it a little bit - and the hands are in rose gold as well.

Any thoughts on a fair price for it? Thanks again.

Check the completed and sold listings on eBay for the same reference. That should give you a range, depending upon condition.

I think it would be more helpful to know what the seller is asking first to know if the ballpark price is even reasonable. The prices on these Constellations vary a lot based on condition.

Does he have a price posted or is it a "send me your best offer and I'll think about it"?

2852
Uncommon shark tooth indices on pie pan dial.
Rose gold furniture.
Sharp SS case.
Decent looking movt.
omega buckle.

if you like the patina $740 is a steal.

edit: you do need better straight on pics of the dial to make sure all is fine there.

I agree that $740 USD is a very good price for a 2852 in this condition.

The dial is just about on the right side of acceptable, but the excellent case condition, clean looking movement and sharp price make it a definite buy!

Just judging the case and movement alone, 740 is a steal in this condition. And the dial isn't all that bad.

The hands look ok to me. Constellations with yellow gold indices have slightly rose-coloured gold hands which these seem to be.

That case condition is superb.

I wouldn’t have been surprised with an additional 1 before that number. That’s positively surprising.

In my opinion the dial is in poor condition, but the case is not and worth a flawless dial. Prices for some Omega watches are "ballistic", take that in consideration.
