Hi folks, like many others I have been searching for my first Speedmaster for some time.
Been looking for a pre-moon, preferably (but not necessarily) pre-professional, and would really love a pulsations bezel.
So what is wrong with either of these? The hands are clearly off in the pre-prof'l but anything else amiss?
And what about the second one?
Any and all help welcome... Thanks very much.

I'm a Speedmaster novice, but it seems to me these are replacement Pulsations bezels. If you're okay with that and the price is right, go for it.

Thanks, they certainly don't have much wear/tear, so I more or less assume the bezels were replacements too.
Not my first choice, but I could live with it.
More concerned about dials, hands, etc...

I would love to know if there are ways to tell orig puls bezels from replacements.

Generally speaking nearly all are replacements, its extremely rare to ever see an original one. The top watch also has totally wrong hands, second one looks like a washed or luminova dial, I'd buy neither. You need far more pics than just one to make a decision on a 321 Speedmaster too

Thanks, yes, I have seen movement pics on these as well. Things looked ok from that end, but the hands/dials on these concerned me.
Appreciate the pointers. Here to learn...

Original pulse bezels have a silver ring circulating the bezel. At the values there are small hash marks (like the 1/5 second marks on some dials).
I borrowed this picture from a previous post by lanierdams on 1/12/14:

Thanks, very helpful. This one would have been good, then, but sold before I could make a move...

So what about this one? Artificially faded bezel, or original? But no hash marks, as above?...

(And while I'm asking, what else is wrong with the watch in general? Pls forgive me if in wrong forum, too - still making my way around here.
    All help/guidance appreciated...

in the first picture posted above, the hands are wrong. You can tell they're wrong because they're shorter and stubbier/fatter than proper hands. look at the hands on the top pic vs the last pic posted. See the difference in the hands?

Yes, thanks, that was easy even for me to see.
Latest q is about the pulsometer bezel in the ebay link in post right above yours.
I understood those bezels had small hash marks, but the ebay watch bezel doesn't (even though it appears aged in the photos).
So wondering about that bezel, and the whole watch itself...

Here are my thoughts on that one

I don't know how a modern bezel gets that look.

For the record these two are complete basket cases and only worth purchasing for parts or projects

Thanks very much for the replies - and even more for the link to your site, which I did not know about. Extremely valuable analysis and detail, so much more helpful than just "hands are wrong" etc.

On the possible aging of a modern puls bezel, that had occurred to me, as I believe the seller offers modern pulsometer replacements, so could have found a way to plausibly age them. Wasn't sure how to balance that with the seller's apparently positive reputation... And the seller deliberately adds the detail that this came from a physician's estate, all original, etc.

If the seller is aging modern replacement bezels and deceiving potential buyers, that is really troubling...

Thanks again for the replies and the link. Greatly appreciated.

70's Seamaster hands? Look like the more common of the two handset variants which I've seen on the 176.007

I speak for the second clock in a little pic ...
Given that the dial is swiss made if it's marked Singer could be okay for a 105012-63 with serial movement about 20520... / 20522...
If is not marked singer is a later remplacement

Great insights. Disappointing that even a house like Christie's can't tell you what you're looking at. Thank goodness for this forum & its members...

Beautiful watch with most recent crown and lightly scratched caseback
Trotteuse ( chronograph hand ) maybe relumed
    Bezel is OK
