Looks great, not bothered by fauxtina at all. Any idea whether it has the same dimensions as the original?

I don’t know Breitling, but saw the below pictures watch (what I assume is a Breitling?) in a post by @Tri-national-man on a different thread. Seems similar to the new model being discussed here, but different from any pictures so far.

I googled a bit but it didn’t jump out at me. Any assist on the pictures mystery watch?

Yes, this is my 765 AVI .. Its this one with the reverse panda dial that is also known as the “Raquel Welch”.. I’m thrilled by the look of the new re-issue and will be wanting to get that strap for mine..

I think it looks great! A reverse panda is lurking a long time on my WTB list but the prices are eyewatering. If they come up with a reverse panda version in the future it’s a definite buy for me (second hand that is).

Cheers,

Max

Overall, this Re-edition is very well done, but I still think the Navitimer 1959 Re-edition from last year is a more compelling watch. But depends on what you like, same movement in both, and same price, too.

I don't think you can go wrong with either watch. Breitling did an excellent job with both and by today's standards, they're priced well.

I was impressed with the 1959 Navitimer Re-edition in the metal. I expect this 1953 Co-Pilot Re-edition will be as well done. Breitling was smart to recruit watchfred to help design them. IMHO these are the best watches Breitling had d'une for years. They are heading in the right direction.

Breitling is looking better and better again. I’ve always been a fan of their solid well built cases and bracelets.

I understand the appeal of the build quality... but why do we need a re-issue of an already issued watch from nearly 70 years ago?
Is this going to be a LE, or a regular production watch? If the former, then I get it, but otherwise... 😕

It's 1953 pcs in steel. An LE just like last year's Navitimer (1959 pcs).

Your question can directly be asked about the need for the Cal 321. Who needs a watch based on a 50+ year old movement?

It really comes down to marketing. Omega and Breitling make no money on vintage watches, so why shouldn't they get in on the act? Many people aren't directly aware of some of these old classic designs and aren't in any position, or mood, to try to source a real vintage model. So why not make an almost perfect re-edition with a modern, column wheel hand wound movement? I've always liked the old Navitimers but I wasn't interested in sourcing a good example which still gives me an old watch with all the issues they bring. Bought one of the 1959 re-editions last December, very happy with it. Looks right and carries a 5 year warranty, and after that can be easily serviced for many years.

Beautiful piece! To me it is more compelling than the 806 reedition because for roughly the same price or just slightly more than the 806 reedition you could get a beautiful vintage Navitimer - so why not get the vintage one? Great looking 765s I’ve seen are around double the price of the reedition, so if you love the look but can’t afford a vintage 765 this is a great option.

Pretty true to the Raquel Welch. Hold the fauxtina please

Raquel Welch had a reverse-panda dial.

I love this and other reissues. I feel it’s part of a bigger picture. People’s taste in new watches will change as it always has.
Fauxtina is here to stay but that’s a small issue.
The main thing is a shift back to modest sizes and humble aesthetically pleasing designs that are not overblown and ostentatious looking IMO.
My Breitling 1966 806 Navitimer is my favourite watch. I’m into the idea of a re issue that I can wear without fear of knocking off a lot from the value as @kovpics previously said.
