Looks like it is a transitional piece as it has the plain case back

For me using the word "transitional" on its own describes a 145.022-68 or 69 with a 321 style dial.

Of course the word can be used in other circumstances, but to do so in Speedmasters can lead to confusion. I think most think of a "Transitional" as a watch with three characteristics : AML dial, low serial number, DO90 bezel.

Some describe the 105.002 as a transitional, as a transitional model between 2998 and 105.003 (something I personaly do not subscribe to)

The straight writing engraved caseback on the 145.022 between the -69 smooth back and the stamped caseback is also refered to as a "transitional back model", a phrase I do use as it readily describes the piece.

Thanks for that. I am still educating myself on on of this and was thinking that it was transitional because it has the smooth hippocampus case back but painted logo on front and DN90 bezel. Can't quite figure out which year this is from. Any idea and thoughts on the general condition?

Printed logo and smooth back should be a 145.022-69, unless it has a 321 movement. More pictures are needed in order to assess the conditions of this watch.

It looks like a 69, but with a newer bezel.
