I'm looking to add another apollo limited edition to the collection. Came across this one and it caught my eye. I really like the apollo crest in the sub dial. But then when I looked at the prices I got a a shock! The cheapest full set I could find is round about 5.4k usd. For a piece that is limited to 7969 units, I would've thought the price wouldn't be as high as some of the <2000 models. Do u guys think the price is too high at this point? I'm conflicted because at that price, I'd rather save up a bit more and get either the soyuz or the apollo 11 35th anniversary. Although higher in price, the 2 aforementioned pieces are my grail speedys at the moment.
Speedmaster prices seem to be going higher and higher ::confused2::

These did not sell particularly well. I’m guessing you are seeing them in the hands of grey market dealers. I feel the people that purchased them kept them.

Yup, I checked, chrono24 and ebay. I'm guessing it's too late to check with OB's for availability of this one? There are a few Grey market dealers in my area who are selling this too, but they're asking no less than 5800usd. It seems like they're trying to cash in on rising speedmaster prices. I mean a little more cash and one could buy a tintin over this. The price just seems puzzling to me.

You can call a US OB and they can check the US network, my guess is under original MSRP. AD’s are hit or miss. I’d assume most AD’s have pawned them off to grey market.

I kind of figured that they'd be gotten rid of by the OB's. It's a pity because I really like the look of it, but can't wrap my head ard the price. The apollo 11 45th anniversary is also a very viable alternative. Despite the higher price, i do see more of an appeal in that piece. Can't seem to find any sort of pattern that affects the prices of these speedmasters. I mean I understand price spikes with the tintin and other, rarer limited edition models. This one however, doesn't seem to make any sense.

    I’d lie in wait.

Enough were made that, from time to time, somebody needs to unload one of these, particularly on eBay, for a fair price. But even so, I’m not sure it’ll be a ton lower than the lowest you found. You might find one for $4.5k or a little less, if you wait long enough.

It’s not my impression that these are significantly increasing in value, but I could be wrong.

Yup, I think that's what I'll end up doing. Wait it out and see if there's any available for a reasonable price. The 7969 number is kind of off putting as well. That's a lot of pieces for a limited edition. Plus with the apollo 50th anniversary expected next year, I'd think waiting would probably be better. Who knows? Maybe with the release of the next few limited edition models, the price of this one could come down.

The Omega botique has this one in stock, it's $100,000. It's really limited.

There is currently an eBay listing with the specific watch you want, so might be worth looking there.

Yes. It is very heavy. It's not mine, but I was able to wear it for a few minutes earlier this year st and Omega event. Got to wear this one too.

I had that model, lovely watch! Sold mine for $3500 id remember correctly like 3 years ago, was a full set but the black leather of the interior box lining was peeling off. (just as it seems to be happening with the one in your picture above)

It is indeed! I really like the apollo badge chronograph dial, which is what drew me to the watch in the first place. I guess I'll wait for now and see if any pop up for a reasonable price. If not, I guess the funds can be kept for the upcoming 50th anniversary

Very niceee. Have to say, it looks nice on the strap too. I'm trying to start a new theme for my speedmaster collection. So I'm going for either as many apollo LE's I can get, or, all the apollo models that are limited to below 2000 pieces. I wouldn't mind adding this one to the collection, but the price needs to be right. Still, it looks great, and I'm sure would look even better in person

Couple of additional pictures, also besides the Apollo Soyuz (previous owner had both)

Oh man I love that soyuz. If I had to choose between the 2, I'd go for the soyuz any day of the week. I'm going to wrap up a deal for one by the end of Dec. Will definately share pics once I have it

Well any Apollo 11 anniversary Speedy should have a higher value compared to what currently new version is available at AD/OB

With the anniversary just around the corner, it would be my guess that these will get a price increase as Apollo 11 gets ALOT of publicity next year.
