Hey OF,

I had promised myself no new watches during lockdown, but I can't seem to stop looking at them and my shopping list continues to grow 😁

I would love your thoughts on the below C Case currently up for auction, here is what I think I have learned:

Cira: 1966
Case Serial: 168.017SP
Dial: Advertised as Original Sunburst Nickle
Glass: Advertised as original acrylic glass with Omega Logo
Cal: 564 - movement pic doesn't show full movement so will request more pics if worth pursuing

My thoughts: as this first Connie in a while on Auction that has peeked my interest:
- I haven't been able to identify the reference from a search on here
- passes MOY test
- dial looks clean (raises my suspicions), some possible patina beginning in white spots on lower half of dial. I can't tell if the text is too bold or if I am just being over cautious but comparing to a similar/identical dial in the C Case thread it looks similar (afraid to say identical in case I am way off in my learning)
-- black onyx inserts on indices & dauphin hands look very clean - hands show some ageing
- date wheel looks clean and correct
- question over a mark on the 6th minute inner case/bezel whether there is a hairline fracture
- Case overall looks un-polished to me, sharp edges (few scratches etc.)
- Movement from the one pic looks ok, although some strange coloring by the winding stem?

I caveat here I am still learning so most of the above are my thoughts and could be way off, slowly building confidence in what I definitely know and don't know hence explaining my thoughts in the above bullets. I am seeing this as much as a learning exercise as a potential interest in building my little collection. Auction is priced BIN £1315.

As always, thanks in advance and hope you're all keeping well and sane 😀

Cheers,
Dave

Looks amazing, but a good deal out of the ordinary price range for these, I'd say 😀

@Skipper_S, did you follow through with yours? Otherwise that one would be a better buy...

- question over a mark on the 6th minute inner case/bezel whether there is a hairline fracture

Good eyes - that is supposed to be there 👍

Thanks very much for the reply Troels, agree the price is quite high - glad my learning is coming on though 😀

I can’t add any more to @ConElPueblo's first sentence, which comes with far more weight than my opinion.

I checked the “Constellation” text against mine and it doesn’t quite match - the two n's are different. BUT, like you, looking through the C-case thread has convinced me that there’s nothing wrong with yours - or at least that aspect of the dial. I have learned something too! The caseback generally looks really nice and I doubt it’s had much wear. I’m guessing that’s a speck of dirt at the bottom of the observatory?

it’s a gorgeous C-case and I think you’re in very good company to add one to your collection. Not sure I would pay that for yours though, even if it was serviced...

Good luck!

nice watch
you will notice that there is another small 'fracture' at 10 -this and the one at 6 are the reflections off the second and minute hand. 😗
The fracture you should be looking for in the crystal retaining ring is at 15 mins.

A lot of money, yes - but it is in very good condition and these grey dials do appear to attract a premium.
If it has been properly serviced, then the price is less ambitious.

Interestingly this watch has the same style indices as the 168.011 discussed in another thread.
Edit -and the dual style Ms

The C Case thread has been a great resource for learning hasn't it! I tohught the same about the spec and think it is a bit of dirt but I has asked the seller anyway.

Waiting on the seller to reply to some questions, will keep the thread updated with how it plays out 😀

Ah thanks, you have good eyes too! You had me looking for a fracture at 15 mins

@ConElPueblo
its OHPF.

Seller will dispatch it from EU when borders reopen so I can avoid custom fees.

thanks again for your help!

Morning all, as promised here is an update on the thread...in case anyone is interested this is on eBay under item no:254558437860 (I have absolutely no affiliation with the seller) - I decided not to follow this due to the price, considering location and being in the UK it also adds on additional costs that makes this unrealistic for me. Sharing the item no. In case it makes sense for anyone else to pursue.

In an exciting twist, this post triggered a message from a fellow OF member whom I have bough from before and absolutely trust, with an offer of a very nice C Cased at a far more reasonable price! After a few messages and knowing the quality of their watches (they have a keen eye in seeking excellent examples) I was in no doubt hooked and in less than 24 hours became the proud owner of my new to me C Cased Connie and I just love the different looks of the sunburst dial in different lighting.

This is just another great example of OF and keeping it in the family as per the thread by and I couldn't be happier - can't see me letting this one go anytime soon 😁.

Had it on the bracelet for now but will probably move back to leather strap!

Cheers,
Dave
