Thoughts on 168.025 luminous c case Connie

Hi,
I'm rather new to the forum but have been reading for a while and learned so much from this great community!

I have a little crush on this c-shaped Monocoque Constellation 168.025 from the Japanese Dealer timeanagram, actually offered on C24 and on their own Webshop. Asking price is very high with 2800 € (unfortunately plus import tax for me).

I love this white-yellowish dial. That it's a luminous version is also a plus for me. The dial seems in more than good condition and not a redial. Given the images in the Omega Stories article about these references, crown seems correct for the reference.

The spots on the medallion put me off a bit. Dealer says it’s corrosion and could not be removed. Also I assume the caseback has been polished to further remove of whatever happened there since there is no "waterproof 168.025 Tool 105" marking.

Any red flags I missed? What do you think about the medallion issue? It's not the first image I see corroded medallions. I don't understand what leads to these problems on a SS case with mostly skin contact ?

Thanks for any comments.

Welcome @OSST

The first thing to know is that these references rather split the crowd and they are one of the least popular Constellations.
However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that is what is important but this does affect value and market price.

The watch looks correct.
The lume pips have degraded on some indices.
There are signs of rotor rub.
The case has seen some polishing but is generally quite well defined.
The pics, in common with a lot of Japanese sellers, are over exposed but you can just see some of the text on the rear.

I think the bracelet looks far too heavy for this watch and be aware it may be very small.

The real problem is the price.

It is at least twice the market value of this reference. ( and that’s without import charges).

@gatorcpa has one of these and he may like to comment.

I agree with the other posters regarding correctness of the dial. I’m not sure that any examples of this reference were delivered with a bracelet. To me, any Omega bracelet that fits properly should be OK, but does not add great value.

I think that the case has been heavily polished to the point of almost removing the factory engraving of the reference number from the back.

I would not pay 1/2 the asking price for this watch. For that kind of money. You should be able to get a decent condition gold pie-pan Ref. 168.005, with the same caliber movement inside.

Is that even an Omega bracelet though? No endlink numbers and no pictures of the clasp.

Thanks for your input and your evaluation. I cooled down a bit .... patience....

I found myself opting for the c-shapes every time I have the choice. My second watch (after a CK14364 OMEGA Seamaster Chronograph from 1962 passed on to me from my father - will soon write here about it) was a Sinn T2 with a cushion shaped case and still love this watch.

Bracelet is said to be a 1119/143

@dsio of course I went through your article, more than once 😁
