Those with 3861 and 1861 Speedy, are you keeping both?

Hi All,
I've half the mind to sell my 1861 (hesalite) after getting my 3861 (sapphire). The 3861 has been my go-to watch ever since I bought them and the 1861 has had literally zero wrist time. Watch-honeymoon biases aside, I really see that I'm going to wear the 3861 much more than the 1861, despite the latter having the hesalite crystal which is more canon to the whole moon landing lore. The better bracelet fit, accuracy, aesthetics, robustness of sapphire just appeal to me more.
I dont want to regret my decision in letting go the 1861, so i hope those with both the 1861 and 3861 can chime in, may I know what are the reasons you are still holding on the both models? Or do you see more logic in selling one of them?
Thanks in advance

I don't have either of them (a 3861 is in my future!) but I don't see the point of owning both unless you're a watch collector

Some of us 'collect'. I have a 321, some 861s and some 1861s. My daily wearer is an 1861, but it is a TinTin and not a plain Speedmaster -- on most days I prefer having that added color on the dial. And it is nice having others to wear when the mood strikes.

Unless you need the money hold on to the 1861 and see how you feel in 6-12 months. I don't think one replaces the other. Swap out the bracelet on the 1861 for a leather strap or a NATO to change it completely.

Agree. If/when my Snoopy ever arrives, I'll still find ways to wear my FOIS -- and I'm not really a collector, just view them as quite different watches with distinctive strengths. I'm not sure I'd want to own multiples of many watches, but I can certainly see the case for a new 3861 SS and an 1861 variant, especially if you value the direct connection of the 1861 to those watches that went into space. Speedies are kind of like Doxas for me in that respect -- many share enough DNA to be obvious family members, but are different enough to be interesting and worthwhile in their own rights. JMO.

Personally, I have both the FOIS and the 1861 hesalite and never wear the FOIS. I've debated parting with mine to fund another purchase - just don't see the value of it sitting in the safe, unworn. The only watch that will replace my 1861 is the 321.

TL;DR: Unless you're like me, and find that having watches that just hang around and never get worn, sort of irksome, keep both until you know in your heart (or your wallet) what the right choice is.

Myself, I had the 1861 (liked it well enough; never really loved it) and then had the 3861 (absolutely loved it) and knew the 1861 would never again see wrist time. Then... along came a watch that obliterated all others for me, and I actually traded both of them towards that watch... and now... womp-womp... massive seller's remorse... I know there's another 3861 in my future.

But, literally zero seller's remorse over the 1861; just my personal opinion. Great watch and all, but the 3861 was just so much better, for me at least. Now the only decision is when I'll pick one up, and whether to finally get a sapphire sandwich, or stick with hesalite, as both models of mine had been.

Just curious, what was the watch that made you sell both speedys?
(Is it supposed to be spelled speedies in plural form?)
