Seller claims to be vintage genuine, and NOS. What is your opinion?

Omega symbol looks like it is riveted onto buckle, never seen this...looks fake to me, just my two cents.:cautious:

Something looks fishy to me. The buckles with the filled center of the Ω logo usually had a crosshatch pattern and the bottom of the Ω was pinched together closer on the late 60's and 70's versions. I don't recall these logos being riveted on the earlier ones either, but I'm sure somebody has a handy link to Desmond's .pdf on these.

    Ask and ye shall receive...

    http://users.tpg.com.au/mondodec//Omega_Constellation_Accessories_Part_1.pdf

As for the example above. It looks correct at first glance for a US made steel buckle. I have a couple just like it. However, the Omega looks to be a bit off-kilter and the rivet looks rough. Not something that would pass Omega's Swiss QC. Here in the US? Who knows?

It also looks a bit too new. There really is no such thing as NOS when it comes to these buckles. There should be at least a bit of normal wear. My guess is that it could very well be a copy that was cast from an original example.

One way to tell is if it is just short of the advertised width. But someone would need to purchase it first.

It could be genuine but I wouldn't buy it based on the fact that it looks like crap.

yeah, one thing bothered me, actually two things, are:

    - the omega letterings on the back are too small than most I have seen
    - looks too new, even for the NOS-est example ever

thanks guy, I will pass this time ... pulled trigger on another one

these two buckles are much younger versions - probably from the late 60ies / 70ies

That's the one I was trying to describe.

You can try, but it's a fruitless endeavor. ::rimshot::

I can give it a try. Here is a picture of one of my buckles. I believe it to be original because it came to me on an original Omega watchband that was attached to a watch that I purchased from the family of the original owner.

Here is one of the pictures of the buckle from the eBay listing.

You can see that the eBay buckle logo is slighly tilted. The center of the logo on mine is not shaded like some of the newer ones from the 1970's (I have a couple of these also). So that element matches as well. The shoulders on the original look a bit more rounded than the newer one, but that could be due to normal wear over 60+ years.

The eBay one is close enough to make me stop and look. I wouldn't be able to say any more without a closer examination.

But the general style, logo and size look correct.

gatorcpa, your Omega logo does not look riveted to the buckle like this one is. The shoddy riveting is what makes me believe this is a fake...I have a buckle very similar to yours pictured here and the one in this post appears to be...not even close.

I think OPs buckle is OK or at least a very good copy.

Here is one still attached to s NOS 50s Omega strap.
