I really like the style, but most of the ones I have seen have more gold color, which I don't care for on this style of watch. I just came across this one and it is such a clean and simple look. When I do a search on ebay for sold watches of this model, it is hard to determine a fair price as most do not have the bracelet (they have a strap) or are in "rough shape" or a redial. Seller is asking $750. Any ideas on a fair price for this watch? The seller advertises it to be original and in mint condition. http://www.ebay.com/itm/27098563562...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1065wt_1166Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
First time I've ever seen romans or those hands on a Geneve Dynamic but then I've not seen that many of them
Thanks for pointing that out. I looked on the Omega vintage site and none of the Dymanic models shown have numerals on the dial, and a Google image search displays hundreds of pics, all without numerals on the dial as well.
Is it just me, or do we have Swis Made on the bottom? Leaf hands are not a feature of the later Dynamics and this one will be powered by a cal 1012. So I would think its not worth the money. Hard to tell if this is a redial as the pic is not head-on, but it is very sharply printed. Cheers Desmond
I think just a reflection from the crystal. Seller tells me: " I guarantee you that this watch is authentic factory omega original. Money back guarantee." However, when I asked to see pics of inside the watch, he tells me, "i don't have the tools to open the case." I do appreciate the feedback. At $750, I am passing.
Good move to ask for movement pictures. There were a lot of replacement cases and dials around, mainly in the Hong Kong and the States, and unscrupulous sellers were sourcing tired old 10xx series movements, housing them in new cases and selling these particular models as NOS
Yes, certainly without seeing the movement I must pass. It is certainly amazing how much I have learned from the members of this forum. I had no idea the amount of fakes or "Mumbai Special" (as gatorpa calls them) that are being passed off as authentic watches. Simply amazing.
Watches are always a crap shoot, unless one is an expert. Glad the forum is here to answer questions. I have not seen this one either, I have seen Omega's with roman numerals but do not know if things are correct. A picture of the movement and case back are ideal, but I like the person selling do not have the correct tools to do so. In my case I have a rare "Omega Soccer Timer" I know it is real I bought it new, and know the service history. If I had a guarantee to refund the money then I might consider it. If I were selling and asked the same question I would have to take the watch to a watchmaker to have it opened up. Which I would most likley do if I were to sell.
The watch may have been refurbished but I think the dial is original, un-refinished. However I would not pay anywhere near that price for that model
Yes, watch is in really clean shape, but the price seems too high. This reseller has other Omegas he is selling, and they are bidding up, so I would think he should have some idea of what the market would accept for this watch (no bidders with start price at $750). I still really like the watch, but at this point (not knowing the movement, and not seeing another dial like this) Seller tells me it is model is after 1970s and has a quick set date Maybe I will offer to trade my Boshett Ocean Mariner for the watch; twice I have been asked if it is an Omega, lol.
And lastly a catalog pic but with a different design, still with Romans... question is why did they ever put romans on a funky sports watch anyway, it just looks weird :\
