Just purchased this beauty from a WUS member. This was previously owned by one of our own respectable Omega Forum members... This has some case issues but still a beauty...
Great watch! Looks like that's just tarnishing/dirt on the back of the lugs and on the front - should easily come off with a really light polish.
There are other issues but I can live with it... Some spots have base metal coming through gold plating.
I love these, much underrated. please post more pictures if you work on it. interested to see how you get on with the plate
Thanks, it was serviced about three years ago so I think other than a light clean up on the case I'll leave we'll enough alone for a while. The previous owner was self admittedly not a "vintage watch guy" And I think he just didn't enjoy owning or appreciate what he had. I have been noticing these 1960s Seamaster, Seamaster De Ville, and De Ville chronographs for a while now and loved the look, so when Dennis posted that picture of his previously owned De Ville with a cal 861, it was all over. All of a sudden this watch was for sale on WUS by the current owner (Had to think it over for a minute, considering my recent purchases) ...had to buy it. As someone mentioned in another thread...not doing so certainly would have angered the watch gods! anyway, I did search for a 145.018 case and came up empty, found a 145.0017 in SS on watchco, close but no cigar, finding a gold 145.018 would be a real score...
Thanks Dennis...glad to bring it back into the fold! Talking with the current owner he had no love for vintage pieces and the watch suffered a little for it. Not trying to point fingers or anything but vintage watches require some TLC and commitment that new watches really don't...and he learned this reality thus decided to sell (To my benefit ).
