There was a time when I would be on the first available flight to New York but, much as I would love to own this watch, I just can't see me ever wearing it.

All of my watches were bought to be worn - however infrequently.

Is the magic wearing off?

I'm with you Stewart. It's a *beautiful* example, but it doesn't have a place in my watchbox .. or safe as I'd never wear it.

no, you are becoming wiser IMHO. i buy only what i will wear. drives me nuts to buy and not wear. collecting is fun, just not for everyone.

Fortunately I have more brains than money. I'd buy that watch in a second if I could pull it off without having to live in my car 😀

Watches are cool!
They are a prime example of art and science combined into a single paradigm changing object, like a sextant, or a compass.
Isn't the concept of time a game changer?
The past and the future are concepts of our mind, only the present is a reality.

Sometimes you try to force things, just like the cheerleader in high school you dated and really didn't like......
Part of the maturation process of this hobby is the narrowing of focus imho.

I want to love the cheerleader, I want to love Speedy's and Connies...... Why am I PUP (physically unable to perform)?

I can pick up a couple of nice Omegas for a bargain, but I just don't like them!

There are many types of collectors, sure, and the magic doesn't wear off it simply matures and takes on a different expression over time.
