My local Omega Boutique got an interesting call this week; seems a gentlemen has a couple of Speedmasters he would like to bring in for service, he doesn't know anything about them, except they were his father's watches..... and he was an astronaut Now, this could most certainly turn out to be a fake uncle scenario, but all the same, I just have to know where this leads, so I asked if they would give me a call if this is for real so I can come down and see the watches, and meet the gentlemen (and maybe convince him not to send these watches, if legit, to Omega ). Stay tuned, word is he plans to be at the boutique on Saturday.
Now this isn't going to be a fake uncle story as the guy has stated they were his fathers but.......... Let's hope this doesn't turn into a more sinister scenario, the fake astronaut.
Boutique called today..... and unfortunately, we have a fake uncle. The gentleman brought in a single 1969 Speedmaster Professional, in decent condition, apparently his relative (I believe they did say it was an uncle) was a scientist working for NASA, and this is the origin of the watch. Insert fail sound here.
