This Bothers Me

Why does it seem that on-line watch dealers, after a watch has sold and listed in the archives or sold section, delete the selling price?

Is there a logical reason that I am missing? I would like to now as I research watches to purchase, etc. and think it would be nice to know what they sold for.

Sales and marketing strategy. Don't want to influence future pricing by people seeing a previously lower price. They want you to know that they sold the watches and many many always seem to be on "hold". This bothers me more.
Best place to go to get the wholesale price is ebay.

Just as much as people that list a watch for sale on certain forums with no images!!

Certain sellers do it (replace the asking price with SOLD) on this forum too!

+1 annoying. Some forums do not allow this practice.

Which is against the rules BTW! I have reinstated several threads when a watch is sold as some people have removed the entire text and pictures.

Luckily as mods we can revert back to the thread before deletion

How about no asking price in ads or on dealer websites? Are prices fluctuating daily so that sellers are at risk of actually stating their requested price? Or are they just embarrassed?
