Still very early stages for me. Trying to get a feel for vintage watches.
Yes, this is just a Geneve.......
I believe it to be a good example.
Please feel free to educate me !!!
I see the crystal is genuine. The case matches the movement. Dial appears to be original. Doesn't appear to be over polished (if at all).
    Your thoughts?

Looks fine to me. Only the buckle and strap are not period correct.

    Thanks for that.
What points to the buckle being wrong?
Some link for me to learn from?
Is it a fake buckle or just wrong for that watch?
Is there any way to find out the original type of strap? be it leather or bracelet or ?

And who tries to sell a watch with a fake buckle? Unless clearly disclosed as not original.
I am using a phone but I'm not as convinced by the case as you are. Is the brushing on the front surface correct?

I'd say it has been refinished.

The case has been badly refinished. I’d pass.

Considering the amount of polishing the back, sides and buckle have received, it seems unlikely that the front of the case would have escaped.

Interesting finish on that polished case...

I’d pass that vertical brushing might look like poop in hand.

Looks like a finish done with an Indria stone!
