seller is saying the watch is all original including dial, I kind of like the black with gold lettering but I reallyhave no idea about angelus. What do you think?

No obvious concerns in the photos you posted, but i'm no expert in fonts and logos for Angelus

Here's a similar one from the vault

Thanks Lous, yours look very nice, also there is no overlap between subdial and the outer dial in your angelus. It always gives me some reason to doubt when there is an over lap

Very wise - I fully agree. Can you get a close up picture of the dial?

the printing seems crisp. I'm still in favor of original.

Thanks Lous, I do think they look crisp too. The overlap made it hard to fully conclude though. Also, on the movement, have you seen angelus stamped like that before, usually i see a stamp with a pentagon circling the brand name.

Just took a jog through the database. You are right - not a single example labeled like that.

Angelus chronographs usually have red lines in the minutes register. My example has a very slight overlap in the register printing. Also, the bridge usually are the pentagon Angelus symbol. This example seems to have too many question marks. Better get it cheap, or just pass on this one.

Why do they have red lines at 3, 6, 9, and 12?

Back in the day, the cost of telephone conversations was assessed in three minute increments. Many chronographs have similar markings

@ELV web : regarding the original watch you were considering, the fonts of the Angelus logo is quite different (i.e. N). What gives? I'm not at all knowledgeable with Angelus, but I'm curious as to the font difference.

I think the original watch in this post has a few red flags, the dial stamping is one (as you mentioned), also the movement stamping is another one, also the overlapping outer track vs. subdial is another one.

My turn to bring this one back from the dead. This watch looks good to me except for the notch on the side. What's going on? Seller says he thinks it's a missing crown thus selling for cheap. Of course pictures are never good. I tried looking at other chronodato from members on the forum but the pictures never show the side without the crown, so I couldn't get my answer.

That is the day/date corrector. Seller is a dimwit who deserves to be skinned. If you want more of a discount, you can point out two more "missing crowns," one each between each pair of lugs.

It also looks like he took a pair of pliers to the believed "missing crown".
