Guess someone picked up the phone and rang him haha Would have been interesting to watch the auction. I would've passed. Why does the chrono hand look extra long. The dial lume is a turn-off for me.
If you ask me it was a simple "classified" listing. He put his phone number in. It was not one I would have gone for, but I bet it was around $15,000. Any buyer knows they will have to pitch hard to buy one. He didnt need to let the auction run, in my opinion, if he knows what its worth.
Am I wrong in thinking it had an incorrect hour hand though? Thought those were supposed to touch the minute markers on the 2998s.
I do appreciate the seller of the eBay Ed White in the UK that ends tomorrow for letting the auction run so we get to see a good test of the market, but I don't blame the seller of this one for accepting an offer outside of the auction. At that level the eBay/paypal fees are harsh.
I think the minute hand should touch the chronograph seconds track, right? But I was wrong about the hour hand - though I still think it might have been incorrect.
If I was the buyer of this watch I would have wanted at least one photo in focus of the dial. I know the seller can do it because the movement shots are in focus. The hands are probably service hands but thanks to the photos I can't be sure. In any event it isn't such a big deal now he watches are trading at this level, sourcing alternate hands should be possible. That is if you go shopping with 5% of the watch price you should be able to improve the hand situation.
Actually I don't think so. Quite the reverse. It would be better to transact at this level outside eBay and PayPal due to the very high fees on eBay and transaction limits on PayPal.
I agree but there is the crap picture. Just had this discussion re a watch I'm buying. We are using pay pal. We considered e bay same scenario with a buy now option but ruled out high fees.
