    Hi there
I am thinking of bidding for this omega deville gents-- Can anyone tell me if this looks genuine. Unfortunately I don't have any more details-- is there anyway of identifying age and approx. value?

    any thoughts?

    Cheers

That strap is falling apart, and a replacement is around $500.

Thanks -- I might be tempted to bid as long as price doesn't run away :)

If you are factoring a new strap into the equation, remember that the Omega deployant only works with a few aftermarket straps - they are different from most others.

If they overexposed that photo any further I'd be struggling to see if there was a watch there. I think it's a cal 2500 ref 168.1700 from 2001, but check the diameter as they did a 168.1707 in 2004 that looked very similar but was 3-4mm smaller - a 'reduced' model at 35mm. I can't tell from those photos which one it is - I can't find a single internet photo of a 168.1707 but it's in AJTT.

Using the case number Stuart provided, the large one is a ref. 48313132, and the case is 39.4 mm diameter.

The smaller version is a ref. 48613132, and is 36.8 mm in diameter.

I tried to see if there were any tells in the printing on the dial to identify one version over another, but the proportions are all the same, so one is just an identical version of the other, only smaller. The only hint I could see is in the strap - both came on brown straps, but the shade of brown on the larger one is very dark and almost grey in the photos, where the smaller one has a shade of brown like this watch. Certainly not definitive as straps can be changed, but as Stu said, check the size.

    Cheers, Al
