What do the experts on these boards think of this cold-capped piece?

It's for sale at a local auction, but I won't get a chance of viewing it hands on. I like the fact that it's rather sharp looking and it's an interesting reference. The price is, currently, at roughly $740...

They are awesome watches. Pictures can't do the dial justice. This one looks pretty nice, clean, decent case.

There's a cal 751 version on ebay right now too.. http://m.ebay.ca/itm/121659377019Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Looking at some of the pieces available on eBay at the moment, it would seem that the price is roughly around what one should expect, not much of a bargain, unfortunately...

I am really digging this one, but I think I'll have to pass. I didn't figure in the buyer's premium in my price, so that alone makes it a bit more expensice than I feel completely comfortable laying out. Add to that that it isn't SS or solid gold and that it isn't a cronometer... Well, I'm really not knowledgable enough to pull the trigger right now. Looking though some of the older post on this forum hasn't made it an easier decision, though :(

Looks nice, with a little patience you should be able to find one for $500-600 though.

My point (nearly) exactly. This one carries a bit of a premium, which I would be happy to pay for a SS one, but not a capped version. It does look nice, though

You can find them in 500-600 but not in that condition imo, that's a pretty sweet example

I've been lucky to buy them in the past but pictures weren't the same quality as the ones in the OP's post. This one just sold for $775 in better condition and with a BOR bracelet too.

The OPs watch is in very nice condition, looks great! It's worth trying to negotiate with the owner.

The 750 non-chronometer version isn't impossible to find under $750, but the 751 chronometer version is getting harder & harder to track down - especially in stainless steel. That's one watch I'd rebuy in a heart beat at the right price in the right condition.

One 18k YG and the other stainless steel. The 18k gold one has box and papers. BTW- the solid gold models have "waterproof" instead of the omega symbol in the caseback (for the steel and gold plated/cap versions).
