hi everyone

Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 3:00 pm EST Sunday ....

see photos and a copy of Cheslea sales ledger page and Lloyd’s register was owned by Fred Berg , jr . I bought it from the estate of Teddy Berg…. Last week .

there is one more clock inbound for this year. Ohhh but that one is under cover of the night right now …

Announcing the 2023 David G. Gow Memorial Scholarship For Horology Recipient

A nationwide annual scholarship program dedicated to professional careers in clockmaking and conservation.

As part of a long-term plan to support the study of horology (the science of time and timekeepers) and aid those working toward a professional career in clockmaking, the family of former Willard House & Clock Museum conservator David G. Gow and the museum are pleased to announce a new scholarship recipient.

Twenty-eight-year-old Patrick Mont of East Freetown, MA, was among a diverse pool of applicants. Mr. Mont is a factory trained clockmaker with the Chelsea Clock Company . He also serves on board positions with Massachusetts Watchmakers and Clockmakers Association (MWCA) and the American Watchmakers and Clockmakers Institute (AWCI).

“We celebrate the addition of Patrick to the Gow scholarship community”, says Callum Gow of the scholarship review board. “Patrick's clockmaking background and membership in MWCA and AWCI makes him uniquely qualified and excellent addition as a horological ambassador.”

When asked why Patrick decided to pursue this field, he commented, “Living in the Boston area, many vintage and period clocks cross my path. I need to better understand proper restoration and conservation techniques to work on them with true stewardship.. The Gow scholarship gives me access to classes and experts that I couldn’t consider before.”

Specifics below:

• Any US-based student that has begun the journey into the profession of clockmaking qualifies.

• $5,000 will be awarded and the money may be used to attend advanced courses provided by various clock and watch-making schools nationwide.

2024 Application Deadline: November 4
2024 Award Release: December 16
