hi everyone

Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 4 pm EDT Sunday ....

Remember the Clubhouse room is only as good as the collectors that join in.... please post a watch you want to chat about.

Be Safe

Good Hunting

Hello Everyone....
Was just talking with a few other collectors.... how some people approach collecting as "hobby". The hobby people enjoy the camaraderie and meeting like minded individuals and share knowledge and interest openly in the hobby. The other approach people take is more of a " Bloodsport". The individuals who take the "Bloodsport" approach, you dont know at first they seems to fall into the "hobby" category until an opportunity presents itself and they "strike" there true colors... It sad but true , I have had the non-pleasure falling into a false sense of security with these types only to find out that they covet a watch or a clock aka timepiece that you might have. For that reason there are collectors on this site that don't post some of the Timekeepers in there collection as to not chum up the waters so to speak.... and that is sad... As I know Mark wanted to keep this place as a "safe haven" and drama free...
Let try to make this a "safe haven" where we can share thoughts and insights into this hobby...
a clock I bought off of ebay... just because I like the dial and the pleated bezel ....

about the clock and the boat it was on :

The Madeleine was a 19th-century racing schooner-yacht built in 1868 by David Kurby in Rye, New York and owned by Commodore Jacob B. Voorhis. Madeleine was the winner of the America's Cup in 1876 and an American defender in the 1870 America's Cup. She won the two most desired trophies reserved for schooners, the Bennett and the Douglas Cups. In 1911, the Madeleine was dismantled and sunk at the mouth of the Hillsborough River, Florida.
