Just FYI . This is still a work in progress.....
The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversation.. Having collectors either email me a photo of their watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about it in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exists ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 3:00 pm DST Sunday ....

Hello everyone

Wanted to share in a watch I have been looking for many years …. A Omega marine from 1932. One of those f not the first dive watches made. From the Omega website ….
“ 1932
The world's first commercially available divers' watch was introduced by OMEGA in 1932.
Named the Marine, it utilised an ingenious, patented double case sealed with cork to keep water and the elements away from the heart of the watch. Taking the innovation further, OMEGA also introduced an adjustable clasp with a divers' extension so that wearers could tit the watch comfortably to their own wrist. The OMEGA Marine became an instant success and helped to make a very dangerous profession a lot safer. For many diving pioneers, it was the watch of choice.
Going deeper than any watch before, it was successfully tested in Lake Geneva - not far from OMEGA's headquarters - at a depth of 73 metres. Even more stringent laboratory tests were carried out five years later and found the watch to be completely waterproof to a depth of 135 metres.”

To be clear I have a steel version but one in gold ( 14k or 18k) as slipped thru my fingers ( many years ago).

Well that all changed last week … one popped up and it looked as if it was “ found in the wild” all the cases hard edges were still present, even the screw in gold strap bars ! Looks to have its original pigskin strap and 14k gold signed buckle and tang. This model also a has a sapphire crystal ! As small as it is . Please see attached Omega catalog page .

This example is a OJ 680 ( 14k gold) .

Amazing it was tested to 73 meters ( 239 ft ) and later to 135 meters ( 442 ft) !

I have a Panerai 1936 limited edition…. That has a plexiglass crystal and is water resistant to 30 m ! Hahahahaha see wrist shots of both !
