hi everyone

Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 4 pm EDT Sunday ....

THINGS WITH SPRINGS CH CHAT 09/04/22

Remember the Clubhouse room is only as good as the collectors that join in.... please post a watch, timepiece , clock etc you want to chat about.

Be Safe

Good Hunting

A few watches that my cousins gifted to me after my Aunt passed away a few months ago. The wristwatch was my Uncle's, the pocket watch has the initials/name of my aunt's dad.

Interesting story behind this local purchase. Rolex 6298 "pre-Explorer" from 1954. 36mm with 20mm lug spacing. Early Rolex full rotor auto-winding A296 movement. Fortunately my watchmaker has the needed winding arbor and the correct original crown.

A WW2 Military G.S.T.P. JLC pocket watch that was issued to bomber crews, snipers and officers that I picked up for £225. It has the original plexiglass which has yellowed over time. It has just been serviced, has no flaking to the dial and has the original cathedral hands. The movement is a JLC cal. 467.

A military Smiths 1/5th second stopwatch that I also picked up this week. This came with its original service box. It was used in aircraft trails, mainly on Buccaneer 975 and 988’s. It was mounted in the rear of the cockpit in a bracket and used by the navigator. The service box has the date of 1972 on it. This was £74.

This is a Rolex Military pocket watch that I nearly bought for about two hours ago. It’s been badly relumed.
