Just FYI . This is still a work in progress.....
The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversation.. Having collectors either email me a photo of their watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about it in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exists ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 3:00 pm DST Sunday ....

Hello everyone

As found in the wild ! Early Chelsea Yacht clock serial number 243 as sales ledger describes “ Brass Yacht 4 1/2 “ … sold to Daniel Pratt and Sons orderd May 20 1898 !

The clock seema to have been opened only a few times …. The dial is in stunning original condition . The movement sparkles , has a slightly
Layer of dust on it and one partial figure print but other than that movement is stunning original conditon ! The case has delvoped a stunning patina I have not tried to clean some of the dirt that is crusted on the case. … the bezel feels like it floating as I unscrew the front bezel .

This example is truly a time capsule… I plan on keeping this “ as-found in the wild” ….

For the newer collector , the Yacht ( marine ) clock serial numbers started at 200 ….. in 1898 …. Sn 143 is a “milled “ movement , notice the circular milled area with in it is stamped “ Chelsea Clock Co”., The factory milled off “ Boston Clock” as it was old stock that was sold as the first round of Chelsea clocks !

I am just a ver the top finding this in such untouched condition and wanted to share !

Enjoy the video !

Good Hunting

Bill
