hi everyone.

Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 3:00 pm DST Sunday ....

Unpolished Vintage 1950s Eterna Baby Valjoux 69 Chronograph with New Old Stock Band and Eterna Buckle


Unpolished all original vintage Eterna baby chronograph in stainless steel with hooded lugs and a services Valjoux 69 movement. Original curved plexi glass. In lovely sharp unpolished condition and running well with all chronograph functions working correctly. Comes on a new old stock black leather rally band with period Eterna stainless steel buckle. Hard to find model, especially in stainless steel.



Movement


Original Eterna Valjoux 69 manual wind chronograph. A very rare movement with only around 3,964 having been said to be made. Running well and all chronograph functions working correctly and resetting to zero. This was serviced in late 2023.



Case & Glass


Superb unpolished 26mm all stainless case with only very minor marks from from wear over the years. Snap fit case back is in great condition with minor marks from use and storage. Pushers are original to the watch and working crisply. The original double curved plexi glass is in excellent condition with no major marks. Despite the measurements these square cased baby chronographs wear larger than the dimensions suggest due to the case shape and pushers/crown on one side. The dimensions are the same as found on the Rolex 3529 and Gallet Multichron Officer models that used the same Valjoux 69 movement.


Bracelet Super


Beautiful quality Hirsch saddle leather band in beautiful condition. Strap is 18mm at the lugs and tapers to 16mm at the Eterna stainless steel buckle. The buckle is like new.


Dial


Stunning original mat grey dial with slightly contrasting tachy ring and outer minute scale. Black printed hour markers and numerals. There is a very slight patina on the dial but generally very clean. There is also a very slight line between 7 and 8 that I suspect is caused by minor deformation of the dial within the case. Its not really noticeable but I wanted to point this out.


Hands


Original blued steel hands in good condition and really shine in the right light.




Crown



Original unsigned crown that changes the time and winds the watch smoothly.
