hi everyone

SORRY will start at 5 pm !

Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 5 pm EDT Sunday ....

After never having met in person, Bill and I were in the same room two days in a row this week, and Charlie has reports from both:

Watch Spotting at Eric Wind's 2023 Horological Society of New York Presentation
https://www.windvintage.com/blog/wa...-horological-society-of-new-york-presentation

As Eric Wind and I approached the Horological Society of New York on the evening of March 6th, 2023, he recalled how it was quite hard to believe it had been four years since his first HSNY lecture "Collecting Vintage Watches." Within Part II, Wind detailed how collecting has changed since his 2019 presentation, provided advice for collectors, spoke on the degrees of watch restoration, the rise and decline of “hype watches”, the arrival of new voices in the watch community, and much more. In the attendance were several friends, such as Mitch Katz, Bill Sohne, Geoff Hess, Fred Savage, Jane Chon, James Fisk, Tannie, James Kong, Max Shillman, Alkis Kotsopoulos, Melody, Paul, Henry Flores, Jeff Binstock, Jimmy Margulies, Seth, Wayne, Miles Franklin, Dana, Thomas Hendricks, and many more. Below we’ve highlighted some of our favorite watches at the event. Be sure to stay tuned for the forthcoming video on YouTube!

Vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre Collector Dinner in NYC
https://www.windvintage.com/blog/vintage-jaeger-lecoultre-collector-dinner-in-nyc

After Eric Wind’s presentation at the Horological Society of New York, we wanted to have an additional evening to spend with collectors. We arrived at Galanga, a Thai restaurant in West Village. The theme of the evening was vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre, as I called in a few requests to collectors with a penchant for Le Sentier timepieces - including Greg Selch (@livingstonsatnightwatches). However, the invitation was in no way exclusive to JLC collectors. Several friends were in the building wearing everything from CYMA to Patek Philippe.

I’ve been trawling eBay as usual and think I’ve spotted an Omega ‘Air Ministry’ that could be worth a punt currently at £160. It needs servicing but, I think that I could get it done by my Watchmaker friend for a good price. These are three that I spotted on eBay. Do you think they are all the same model of Watch?

What are your thoughts about this 1935 Tropic Dial Omega. Worth a punt?

Not at the same level as the Breitling, but an Omega I picked up about a year ago. Gold plated case, but I really like how it wears.

Here are some other bargain basement deals that I spotted. Are any of these worth a punt?

Some pocket watches that I was watching on eBay over the past few weeks. I nearly bought these. I really liked the J.W. Benson watch with ‘The Bank’ movement.
