hi everyone

Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 4 pm EDT Sunday ....

Hello Everyone.....
I had a long conversation with a few clockmakers over the last month. One topic of conversation that kept coming up was "difficult customers".
It reminded me of a Signfield episode "A Difficult Patient" ...
https://youtu.be/ZJ2msARQsKU
Clockmakers are like Doctors, they talk to each other.... and share the "difficult customer' stories and sometimes names of customers they " fire" aka will refuse to do work for.
The seasoned collectors know this all too well... So a sage word of advice to the new collector... if you find a clock or watchmaker that works well with you..
a list of things I would not recommend you do...
1) push them to work on a clock or watch they say no to you.. They have a reason to say no .. just accept it and dont push them.
2) Dont tell them that they dont have to run your clock " on test" for 10 days to 2 weeks... prior to returning it to you... and dont tell them just use a timing machine to adjust it and ship it ASAP.
3) Dont call them everyday for an "update"
ONCE YOUR KNOWN AS "Difficult" .... and or on the "FIre the customer list" I hear it is very hard to get off ....
These are just off the top of my head....
I would strongly suggest you include them on your xmass card list as well.
Good Hunting and welcome to the hobby !
